RELIGIOUS OPPRESSION IN THE UNITED
Religious oppression can be described as a situation whereby the members of a particular
religious group or community discriminate the others due to for instance the differences in what
they believe in and what they hold as important. Over the years, the United States of America
has continued to witness an increase in the oppression of non-Christians. America has even
witnessed cases where some people have been killed on the basis of their religion. Despite the
unending efforts to contain the situation, the cases are still reported (Floyd-Thomas and Pinn,
2011). Non- Christians have never reached to a point whereby they can say that they have
received fair treatment.
In all the countries in the world today, the United States of America is considered to have
the most diversity in terms of religion. This diversity is the one that present opportunities for
some people and poses a threat to others. The Christians who form a majority of the population
in United States receive privilege in terms of treatment. This makes them to marginalize and
deny members of other religious communities any of the privileges that they enjoy as a Christian
community. The non-Christians are even excluded from taking part in some activities that the
Christians consider as being rightfully theirs. Due to this privilege and the kind of treatment
