The domain for f(x)=x^2-3 is {x|0<x<4}. What is the smallest value in the range of f(x)?

Oct 29th, 2014

The vertex is (0, -3) This means the minimum value is -3 at x=0. Then the graph increases indefinitely.               The maximum would be at 4 (if it were a closed interval) and f(4) = 4 ² -3 = 13

Hence the range is  {y|-3<y<13}
