Importance of Change management to ERP implementation
Change management could be one of the factors that will lead to failure in ERP
implementation. However, if a good change management strategy is adopted, the ERP
implementation is deemed successful (Altomony et al., 2016). Change management plays an
important role in preparing users for the introduction of new systems and preventing users'
resistance towards a new system. Change management involves obtaining skilled staff and
creating reliable support teams; this enhances the ERP implementation. Various change
management factors contribute to a firms' success in implementing the ERP, including project
leadership, whereby tasks must be allocated to a specific group of individuals (Altomony et al.,
2016). Ensuring team effectiveness is another significant factor in change management. The ERP
project team must consist of dedicated employees with varied specialization.
Why individuals in an organization may resist change
Past experiences, availability of information, and people's cognitive processes influence
the views regarding the change. The issue of trust is a critical contributing factor to resistance.
Individuals in an organization have varied perceptions of trust in new management; negative
