Emma Martinez 18 November 2020 English 306 Final Proposal – Outline Each letter in the template must have 2-3 complete sentences minimum for full credit. I. Purpose A. Why are you writing – specify In the recent past months, there has been a sharp increase in reported cases concerning mental health problems worldwide. There has been related to the current COVID-19 pandemic, which has instilled uncertain panic among many. B. Why do you think there is a problem? The epidemic has also facilitated massive job losses and economic crises, contributing to the upsurge in depression cases. This has resulted further in many families rendered homeless, lack basic needs and experience social isolation. C. Why you think a change is necessary? Statistics indicate the number of reported cases has tripled, causing an alarm among many health sectors and the public at large on how to deal with this issue. The problem is across all genders and ages but mostly affected, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), are the women who seem to have a weaker coping mechanism. D. What your plan is The best way to help with this problem is to make awareness for mental health, during these rough times. Letting those know that hotlines are available. Not only talking to some, but helping those understand that physical education can help with depression. II. Problem – Prove the problem exists A. Be specific – avoid generalization – how relevant is the problem? How frequently does it occur? During this pandemic, COVID-19 has really impacted those who have stayed quarantined alone for all these months. In a KFF Tracking Poll conducted in mid-July, 53% of adults in the United States reported that their mental health has been negatively impacted due to worry and stress over the coronavirus. B. Provide support/research to reflect your point Following a report by the World Health Organization (WHO), almost 75% of the population diagnosed with mental problems are drawn from developing nations due to lowquality public health systems and high medication costs. Some of the issues accrued to mental health disorders include dementia, substance abuse, bipolar disorder, and depression. C. Indicate how employees/workers are affected The prevalence of mental health disorders has caused social disruption in the U.S, prompting an increase in suicide rates. The suicide rates in the U.S are the highest since World War II, attributed to increased opioid use, social media bullying, and psychological stress due to life pressures. The emergence of COVID-19 has aggravated psychological stress with negative implications to society in high unemployment rates, destabilizing the economy, and focus on the public health system. D. Indicate how this affects the company/field as whole (reputation, image, etc.) Youth in America have been identified as a vulnerable population, which is a pressing concern since suicide rates have increased. The high rates of suicide rates have been attributed to substance abuse and opioid use. Suicidal tendencies are conceived through substance abuse and overdose, causing harm to society. It is also a precept to increased crime rates putting the future generation at risk. Failure of the company to deal with a drug problem and narcotic trafficking tolerably leads to increased violence rates and holding the youth hostage. Even with governments' institution of programs to attempt the dismantling of the illicit drug, only marginal success has been achieved. Subjectively, a more effective strategy needs to be established. III. Solution to the Problem – Explain the changes you propose and want approved A. Is the plan workable? What are the advantages? This plan is workable because it is easy and affective. The advantages are that those who are struggling are able to be in a happy place and can even avoid substance use. B. Is it cost effective? Most hotlines for depression or mental health already exist, it’s a matter of knowing how to spread awareness. Maybe having ad in social media since during COVID-19 social media has been the main source of entertainment for many. C. Indicate – schedules, working conditions, employees, methods, locations equipment This plan doesn’t require a schedule since it’s a matter of having those struggling with their mental health to take the initiative to make action. When a matter of working out for mental health, location can be at a park for example or even taking time to stretch. D. Raise alternative solution Another action that can be take is having center open, but with limited amounts of patience. But this can be more expensive and more exposure to COVID-19. IV. Costs (if applicable) A. Supply a accurate and specified budget (itemized) B. Conclusion A. Remind the reader that the problem is ongoing and serious The emergence of numerous social media platforms is a cause for concern in society as it is identified as a catalyst for mental health. Young people can easily access social media, which exposes them to bullying. B. The reason for change is necessary and beneficial to your company/field More intensely, the anonymity allows young people to hide their true identity, therefore dealing with crises leading to depression and eventually results in suicidal behavior. The heavy dependency on social media leads to a decline in social interactions make it difficult for the youth to express and talk to their parents to address issues affecting their quality of life. C. That action is necessary This action is necessary because lack of meaningful interactions with humans aggravates suicidal behavior, which prompts unhealthy experience and poor communication skills compared to inhuman businesses. This need action because it can eventually lead to increased substance use. English 306 Final Proposal (200 Points) Proposals are used to problem-solve and optimize in both professional fields and advanced degree work. The process of writing this paper is designed to give you experience, tools, and strategies to master this genre of professional writing. For the rest of the semester, you will be involved in conceiving, researching, and writing a proposal based on existing problem (s) within your field/major. The final proposal must be—3 single spaced pages minimum Remember that to be persuasive, you’ll need to demonstrate how the issue you identify is currently a problem. Usually it’s most effective to at least start with some kind of impact of the problem you are addressing. In addition to showing how the issue is compelling, you’ll need to show how your solution makes sense, and what is an efficient, effective, and cost-saving answer to the problem. You’ll also need to anticipate objections, complications, and the like—you cannot assume the readers will be on board with your idea, so you’ll need to incorporate answers to questions they will be likely to raise. For example: if you are a Public Health major you can focus on Type II Diabetes, Obesity, AIDS/HIV (meaning the problem/issue is prevalent enough to need solution(s). You can focus on more than 1 issue, but make sure the ae connected (Obesity can lead to Type II Diabetes, which shows their connection, but Obesity and AIDS/HIV have no correlation between each other Format: !Please use figure 8.9 pgs. 330-334 as a model on how the proposal should be formatted as well as the notes below. This will be factored into your grade. Research Continue to deepen and focus the research you’ve begun. Your finished proposal will include in-text citations as well as a carefully, properly formatted (MLA or APA) list of at least 6 substantive sources minimum. “Substantive” in this context means sources from government, scholarly, or professional sites. Final Project Points Breakdown: Formal Outline 50 points Final Draft: 150 Points Final Proposal – Format The primary reason for an internal proposal is to offer a realistic, constructive, and relevant plan to improve a company or in this case your field. According to Malapani (2020), It was
impossible to run from, let alone ignore the
disastrous implications of the worldwide
pandemic. The destructive consequences of
the coronavirus had emerged from physical
signs to economic issues, day after day, weeks
after week, months after weeks, over months
that seemed like decades. Yet the United
Nations (UN), under the obvious bleak news,
warns that coronavirus nevertheless poses a
more danger that health authorities cannot
disregard. The pandemic of coronavirus has
the seeds of a global mental health epidemic.

understandable that in the
COVID-19 pandemic,
people are scared. In
