Introduction
The main objective for this research is to examine as well as understand how the concepts
of Holism and reductionism both relate to the System Dynamics (SD). These dynamics are also a
part of the System Thinking (ST). Determining and understanding the differences, needs, and
dynamics of both approaches are vital for corporations. There are numerous ways in which one
can analyze these complicated systems, however the techniques of holism and reductionism
makes the job much easier for managers and chairmen. This essay will describe the advantages
of holism over reductionism, the differences between the both, as well as the need for holism
over reductionism.
Holism Vs. Reductionism
When we hear the word Holism, it is referred to as being an alternative approach for
system thinking. This approach doesn’t only identify certain parts, but also helps aid ones
understanding of newer entities from the older ones. So therefore, Holism is known to be a
reductionism in terms of a systems thinking. Reductionism help detecting certain areas, then
identifying the work conditions while also aiding towards the understanding of certain
interconnections of a network within the system. Both of these approaches guides us into
understanding the simple nature of such systems while improving the systems thinking. System
thinking is vital for nearly all aspects of our world. System thinking is used in sociology,
information technology, psychology, biology, as well as others. One must think of certain
situations in a more realistic manner determined via the field of study and analysis (Jackson,
2003).
