Assignment #16
SECTION A
Ultimately, I believe that Abraham Lincoln made the right decision, regardless of the war
conflicts and disagreements that were occurring. He stood up for all people, including those who
were African American slaves, seeing them as human beings who needed saving from the
horrors of slavery. I think I figured that if he were to end slavery, that soon people would
acknowledge the horrible things about it and agree with his position. In some instances, I think it
depends on the situation whether or not we should back down on an argument or fight for it.

many ways. For one, as mentioned before, black codes were abolished which led to more
African-Americans finally having freedom. This allowed for African-Americans to also become

a part of democratic participation and voting, where some became representatives within the
American government. It is amazing to think of how this would have changed everything for
African-Americans, knowing that they were finally recognized in society as full citizens of the
United States.
