A hot air balloon with a mass of 18.0 kg is accelerating upward at 1.80 m/s^2 (Anet = 1.80 m/s^2). What is the weight and buoyant force acting on the balloon?

Weight is mass x gravity, so 9.81 * 18.0 = 176.58 N.

Buoyant force is such that the net acceleration upwards (against gravity) is 1.80 m/s2, so 9.81 + 1.80 = 11.61 m/s2 acceleration. F=ma, 11.61 * 18.0 = 208.98 N
