Description
You are required to produce a professional (not personal) social media portfolio (1/2 complete for mid-term and fully complete by finals week).
- The purpose of this project is for you to be able to construct a portfolio which you can hand to a prospective employer.
-Before you start: (a) Identify your area of expertise or interest in the profession of your choice (for the purposes of this class, ‘profession’ is to be defined as a career in the communication industry such as television, journalism, advertising, audio, digital media, broadcasting, public relations, etc; “Profession” cannot be ‘random’ non-communication/media related interests such as body building, theatre, reading fiction, fashion, acting, etc.); (b) You look at some social media active individuals in your professional field to emulate and give you ideas; and (c) learn to screen grab as you construct the portfolio.
What are the Main Elements of the Portfolio? (Please view the examples of portfolios before you start organizing your portfolio)
- Twitter: 40 tweets throughout the semester and 20 tweets by mid-term portfolio. Do not include Retweets. Included in your twitter entries must be: information about one social media influencer, one review of a book related to your area of expertise, and one entry about current/news event.
- Facebook: Must have at least 40 Facebook posts throughout the semester and 20 by mid-term portfolio (unique from Tweets). Must include a status update and can include links but must be related to your area of expertise;
- Instagram: 10 photos (exclusively yours) throughout the semester which exemplify your expertise. You should have 3 entries by the end of mid-term and total 10 for the final.

How do I Submit the Portfolio?
-As a document (plain text) and/on paper (hard copy) or soft copy on moodle;
-Uploaded to your own website (if you have one) or other external server such as Issuu, Dropbox, Mediafire, etc and send me the link (make sure I can access it!); or
-As a power-point with screen grabs (as in example from class) on moodle.
Due Date: October 15 (before 4 p.m.)
- Final Social Media Portfolio.
In addition to all of the above, include:
- Social Media Strategy think page: 1-page single-spaced of your social-media strategy to going forward. This must include: (1) your social media goals, (2) a list of stakeholders/key influencers in your field, (3) what you have done to amplify your content this semester, and (4) specific plans going forward.
