What is Islamophobia? What Might Be the Prime Factors for Islamophobia? Why Is
There Still Islamophobia in Multicultural Canada? Give Reasons in Favor of Your
Answer.
Islamophobia is an expression of prejudicial or bias inclination about Muslims or
individuals perceived as Muslims spreading hostilities against these groups in the form of
physical and psychological abuse, killing, maiming, and discrimination (Elkassem et al.,
2018). These negative sentiments are mostly propagated by non-Muslim who generally
fear or dislike the Islamic religion and its ideologies. Islamophobia mainly infringes on the
religious freedom of Muslims. These intolerant individuals connect Muslims with Islamist
extremism, or radical Islam, representing an extreme political position from a section of
nonconformist and conservative Muslims.
Ideologies that propagate anti-Muslimism prejudices are the underlying belief that
Islamic faith is a monolith religion that cannot adjust to new practicalities centered on

major religions, making it archaic, barbaric nonsensical sentiments depicted by the
orientalism ideologies. Another baseless notion that is exceptionally stereotypical is that
the Islamic faith supports violence and terrorism, making all Muslims terrorists.
Despite Canada being a multicultural country, there is still evidence of Islamophobia in the
public spaces. The anti-Muslimism rhetoric in Canada has been fueled by policies that
visibly target a particular group, for instance, the Zero Tolerance for Barbaric Cultural
Practices Act and banning the niqab (Elkassem et al., 2018). White supremacism and
