The main ideas in Steinberg’s article are based on a discussion of Non-governmental
organizations. The paper basically discusses the influence that these organizations have on the
world at large regarding their political methods of effecting change in the society. Notably, there
are numerous NGO’s in the world. As such, with their soft application of power, they can have
great impact. As indicated by Steinberg (n.d.), their influence is their ability to offer expertise in
According to Steinberg (n.d.), powerful NGOs work together to impress their change in
the world. He has given examples in the article such as the Amnesty International, the
International Federation of Human Rights and also the Human Rights Watch (Steinberg, n.d.).
As indicated in the article, these organizations work together in transnational networks. Notably,
they use the common language of indicating that they are out to serve humanitarian and human
rights purposes. Apparently, these organizations have very clear methods of spreading their
campaigns to express their interests.

Rights Commission (UNHRC) to further their agenda. Notably, they also use diplomats as well
