EFFECTS OF A STRIKE
The Chinese were immigrants to the United States of America. The Chinese were
associated with every immoral activity in the country. The activities ranged from corruption,
pollution, gambling to prostitution and over the present “opium dens”. They lived in filth, wore
the cheapest clothes and lived in the cheapest houses. They were a disgrace to the country. Their
presence was inimical and was deemed injurious and a source of danger. They had no attachment
to the country’s laws, institution and neither were they interested in the country’s prosperity. The
Congress, therefore, came up with the Chinese exclusion act in 1882 which was approved on 6th
May 1892. However, the act was only to last for a year as after that there was no law to prevent
the Chinese hoarders from the country and they would even possibly outnumber the commoners.
I do not agree with the prejudice the Chinese immigrants had to endure. Yes, there were
some bad people who were causing trouble but that is common...
