Description
My 1997 Pontiac Grand Am SE 2.4L 4cyl died going down the road and won't crank. It sounds like it is fast turning. Could it have jumped time or chain broke? Or could it be the fuel pump. I was told both by different mechanics.

Explanation & Answer

If it has a fast turn while cranking sounds like it may have jumped time, the fuel can be checked on your pressure line next to the fuel injectors, if you are getting fuel up to that point i dont think it would be the fuel pump. you can also spray just a touch of starting fluid in the throttle body to see if it fires up.
