Globally, patients are entrusted on the patient health officer's hand for their safety, who
must ensure the sick get the best treatment they deserve. Health care organizations are required
to organize policies that ensure patients' safety. Worldwide, patients remain at high risk if some
patient officers are not well conversant with their hospitals' roles. As a result of the alarming
number of deaths in the US and other neighboring countries, patient health management has been
at the forefront in creating risk management and measures awareness (Martinez et al., 2017). It is
also vital for patient safety officers to understand their roles in implementing patient safety plans.
Therefore, this assessment will report potential risks that patients, employees, and organizations
face if these threats are not addressed in case of patient identification error. It will also analyze
the regulatory agencies' role and their impacts on the organizations.
A Potential Threat to Patient Safety
Health organizations have introduced tools and production techniques that reduce the
patient's threats to patient identification error. Among them is proper and effective
communication to ensure that both the sender and the receivers get the same information. Poor
communication arises due to the assumption that both parties understand the message passed. In
this case, the patient should not assume taking any medicine without understanding the health
officer's right prescription. Furthermore, undermining a condition one is suffering from is not
right until a doctor assesses one's health and determines the right medication to administer
(Mozaffar et al., 2017). Poor communication is also noted with patient safety officers who
instruct the wrong patient. Patient identification error is one of the worst mistakes a health officer
can make as it can also lead to death. It is, therefore, crucial to ensure effective communication
in these organizations to avoid errors.



Another vital technique that prevents threats to patients is the education qualification of
all officers who are employed. Only qualified personnel who can handle any health issue without
assumptions should diagnose patients. Some individuals use fake documentation for a job
application and end up putting the patient's health at greater risk. In these cases, all medical
officers should be first assessed before getting employed to create confidence that they are fit to
work on a patient's health without exposing them to unnecessary risks (Bates & Singh, 2018).
The Patient Safety Organization was created to ensure patients' health safety and reduce risks
caused by the environment. Among the environmental hazards are unqualified doctors who lead
to the deaths of many patients. The organization must deal with any health center that allows
these workers. These cases are reduceable if every individual uses good certificates to apply for
any job without fraud.
