Your essay should include: 1. How sociologists view human nature. 2. How sociologists relate to other explanations of human nature, e.g. neurological/ biological, psychological, moral/philosophical. 3. The fact that the sociological imagination or way of thinking includes the historical imagination and the anthropological imagination. 4. Why sociologists employ the scientific method. 5. What problems arise when they do. [Problems includes ethical concerns too.) 6. The various methodologies sociologists use and why sociologists triangulate them. 7. Why sociologists create and use theories (plural). [Be sure to identify the three main theories sociologists use to map what Weber calls "the infinite" reality that is the subject matter of sociology.] 8. What concepts sociologists find useful and why. There can be some flexibility with this list. 9. What ethical dilemmas arise, especially when looking cross-culturally [in doing ethnographic research, in particular) and scientifically [in doing 'value-free" sociology]. Include how sociologists resolve the issue of value-free sociological inquiry, reject postmodernism (if, indeed, they do), and bring values back in when it comes to fixing social problems.

1.
Sociologists view human nature as a critical part of its studies. Wilson (2012) argues that
sociology aims at fathoming human nature to define the human species and the entire society more
precisely.
2.
Human sociobiology seeks to achieve sets of explanations using the naturalist view of
human nature. This branch of sociology answers critical questions regarding human instincts. The
aim, according to Wilson (2012), is uncovering how these aspects fit together to create the entire
human nature.
3.
The sociological imagination includes a historical and anthropological way of thinking in
an attempt to understand how past events affect the current culture and individual reaction to
specific sets of circumstances.
4.
Sociologists employ scientific research methods since they are tried and tested methods.
This means that such methods have proved to provide better results as compared to other research
methods.
5.
Unlike the naturalists, sociologists deal with human subjects who are skilled at wriggling
out the controls set in an experiment.
6.
Sociologists apply scientific methods differently for different disciplines in an attempt to
triangulate the pertinent problems. Due to limitation in the extent to which scientific methods and

techniques are applied in the sociological and policy investigation, it is hard to determine the exact
scientific method that would be used to enquire into a phenomenon.
7.
Sociologists create and use theories to help in the study and interpretation of events,
patterns and interactions. In creating a theory, sociologists seek to come up with a testable
proposition in the form of a society hypothesis.
8.
Examples of theories are:

Structural functionalism.

Conflict theory.

Symbolic Internationalism.

9.
When doing ethnographic research, sociologists have to involve human subjects. This
means that they must follow specific ethical standards. Care must be taken to ensure that no human
subject is harmed during the process.

Sociologists view human nature as a critical part of its studies. Wilson (2012) argues that
sociology aims at fathoming human nature to define the human species and the entire society more
precisely. Thusly, sociology follows both the theological and liberal approaches towards life in
general. Under the religious perspective, human nature exists in both good and evil propensities.
In sociology, the mess created by evil must be sorted out through the use of writings. Sociologists
attempt to get deeper into the nature of society through both liberal and theological approaches.
Even though they might not be religious, sociology believes that human nature exists. However,
the fundamental approach to human behaviour is based on the principle that the human brain, at
the onset, is in a blank state. However, individual experiences are created entirely from the
different experiences that people go through.
Under the sociology perspective, human nature is viewed from the standpoint of an allpurpose computer which creates an experi...
