REIMAGINING CAPITALISM REFLECTION PAPER ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW: After reading Dr. Rebecca Henderson’s book, Reimagining Capitalism, you will write a concise (≈2-pager) analytical essay about the book. The essay should discuss key insights, ideas, examples and connections gathered while reading (do not simply summarize the book) – this is an analytical exercise that should demonstrate knowledge integration. This is a graduate-level writing assignment; it should be double-spaced and professionally written with perfect grammar. ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES: For the most part, a reflection paper cites your reactions, feelings and analysis of an experience in a more personal way than in a formal research or analytical essay; however, it is not a book report. Do’s Like any other essay, it should be cohesive and refer directly to the specific content in the book. Identify examples or ideas that helped you think critically (not necessarily negative, but just concrete and thoughtful) about sustainable business strategy. It is important that you focus on what you learned from the book and how you would incorporate those ideas in the future. You can include personal experience in a reflection paper, but do not depend on it. Don’ts Do not use a reflection paper simply to summarize what you have read. Also, a reflection paper should not be a free flow of ideas and thoughts. This is not a free write. The idea of a reflection paper is to write an organized essay describing your reactions and analysis to a reading or other experience; however, it is more formal than a journal entry, so leave out informal language, contractions. and colloquial phrases (e.g., yeah, it was awesome). A reflection paper should be as organized as any other type of formal essay. Essay Organization Include an introduction, perhaps one that describes your expectations before the reading the book. Keep your reflection paper focused and organized with a thesis statement. The body of your paper should explain key ideas and insights and any conclusions you have come to and why, again, base your conclusions on concrete details from the book. End the paper with a conclusion that sums up what you got from the book. You might want to refer to your conclusions in relation to your expectations you had before reading the book. You may also want to explain how this reading will change your actions in the future.

Introduction

Most businesses around my surroundings have mostly focused on financial performance
rather than focusing on the stakeholders, employees, and community at larger. However, this
should not be the case. Businesses should aim at improving the lives of their stakeholders,
employees, and society. Before reading the book "Reimagining Capitalism" by Dr. Rebecca
Henderson, I thought it was just another book I usually read for any assignment since I did not
comprehend the appeal. However, after reading it, it opened my eyes, and I understood much.
This reflection paper examines the book "Reimagining Capitalism" by Dr. Rebecca Henderson
while still reflecting on my personal experiences.
Henderson (2016) argues that capitalism is the ability of private institutional systems and
industries to provide financial performance through trade and offer social purpose by positively
contributing to society. Such a social goal is to solve environmental and community problems at
scales such as climate change issues, economic issues, and environmental degradation issues that
