Introduction
Patient advocacy in the nursing world is an important thing since it directly reflects on
patient’s well-being and how they can adapt to a given diagnosed condition. Patient advocacy,
therefore, in this case, can be defined as a nursing care provider can u suppose their position to
protect, support or speak the interests of a patient. Patient advocacy is a fundamental practice
among nursing care providers. The American nurses’ association's code of ethics for nurses and
scope and the standards of nursing practice defines the ethical and professional responsibility of
protecting the safety and the rights of their patients. Therefore patient safety and well-being
depends on the ability of registered nurses to advocate for their rights to ensure that they receive
better and quality treatment plan. Therefore, there are different scenarios where patient advocacy
is essential. This includes some of the critical situations where nursing intervention is an important
engagement to the overall wellbeing of a patient.
A clinical situation
A clinical situation that a registered nursing care should intervene and advocate for the
patient is a situation where a new mother is critically ill following a hemorrhage after giving birth.
Therefore, she is in the Intensive care unit and is in desperate need of seeing her baby even once
