Organizations should tap the power of technology in expanding their ventures but the security risk related to letting users bring their own devices with their own choice of OS installed persists.
The main reasons for limiting certain OS on user devices can be :
1) Not all users upgrade their OS and many are not usually aware of released updates.
2)Chances of data leaks and information breaches are high since the advent of cloud storage applications which involve mixing of personal and corporate data.
3) There is no standard OS which can be enforced across the organization and no way of locking devices of employees since this may rexult in increased risk of bypass attempts and information leaks.
4)If the list of permitted OS is increased then there are more chances of usage of unapproved productivity, cloud storage and malicious apps which may expose sensitive data.
