Diversity and Psychology
There is no singular explanation to the behavior of man and this is fundamentally the
basis of the concept of diversification in psychology. This field is derived from the discipline of
philosophy and in the same manner, psychology has subunits and other subsequent smaller units
under it. Noteworthy is that psychology is always evolving and there lacks a singular theory in
the discipline that holds the solutions to all the problems of man. This apparent evolution of the
concepts and the absence of a unified theorem that is explanative to all the issues implies that
diversification in the field is an imperative thing. The influence of diversification on some of the
major concepts can be best illustrated through highlighting the significant role that each plays in
creating answers to some of the aspects that man seeks to understand.
First there is the concept of behavioral psychology that is aimed at analyzing the relation
of the behavioral measures and the surrounding. This implies that the environment is a
significant point of reference in the discipline of psychology. There is also the field of biological
psychology which investigates the relationship that exists between nature and nurture in
assigning the cause of a particular behavior (McLeod, 2013). Cognitive psychology is not much
related to the environment as it is fundamentally an investigation on the mental working concepts
in processing information that comes from the surrounding (Galotti, 2014). The societal
component of the environment also has a profound impact on the functioning of an individual. In
that regard, social psychology is designed to indicate the connection that exists between the
societal influences and the emotions, thoughts and feelings of an individual. Lastly, there is the
