University of Phoenix Nursing Theory Essay
Theories are made up of ideas attempting to structure thinking around a specific happening. Your readings for this week introduce the ideas of phenomena, concepts, propositions, and assumptions. This assignment is designed to help you think about those four aspects and explain the connections between each to help strengthen your understanding of the foundations and working parts of theory.
Define the following four terms in your own words, citing at least one source: phenomena, concept, preposition, and assumptions.
Review your definitions and think of an example from your day-to-day life or your practice experience that includes each of the four ideas.
For example, falls in clinical practice is a phenomenon you encounter. The idea that dementia patients are at greater risk for falls is a related concept. The related proposition is that dementia is related to falling in some way. An underlying assumption is that patients with dementia don't intend to fall.
Explain how all four aspects of your example work together to form the basis for a testable theory.

Week 6: Area of Interest Power Point PresentationSubmit AssignmentDue Feb 14 by 11:59pm Points 175 Submitting a file uploadPurpose The process for affecting positive change to improve practice outcomes can start with either the identification of an area of interest or the identification of a potential or existing practice problem. Selecting an area of interest helps to define a direction for further inquiry. The purpose of this assessment is for students to identify and discuss an area of interest specific to advanced practice nursing. Students will identify a common practice problem related to the selected area of interest and provide a recommendation to affect positive change. Students will build on this project in later courses. Note: The purpose of the MSN project is to translate evidence currently found in the literature into practice within the chosen specialty track. Due to the research complexity, time involvement, and implications regarding human subjects, drug studies are not acceptable areas of interest for an MSN project. Activity Learning Outcomes Through this assignment, the student will demonstrate the ability to: Examine roles and competencies of advanced practice nurses essential to performing as leaders and advocates of holistic, safe, and quality care. (CO1) Analyze essential skills needed to lead within the context of complex systems. (CO3) Explore the process of scholarship engagement to improve health and healthcare outcomes in various settings. (CO4) Due Date: Assignment should be submitted to the Week 6 Area of Interest Powerpoint Presentation dropbox by Sunday 11:59 p.m. MST at the end of Week 6. The week 6 assignment will not go through Turnitin. This assignment will follow the late assignment policy specified in the course syllabus. Students are expected to submit assignments by the time they are due. Assignments submitted after the due date and time will receive a deduction of 10% of the total points possible for that assignment for each day the assignment is late. Assignments will be accepted, with penalty as described, up to a maximum of three days late, after which point a zero will be recorded for the assignment. In the event of a situation that prevents timely submission of an assignment, students may petition their instructor for a waiver of the late submission grade reduction. The instructor will review the student's rationale for the request and make a determination based on the merits of the student's appeal. Consideration of the student's total course performance to date will be a contributing factor in the determination. Students should continue to attend class, actively participate, and complete other assignments while the appeal is pending. Total Points Possible: 175 Requirements: Criteria for Content For this presentation, select an area of nurse practitioner (NP) practice that is of interest to you and in which you would like to see a practice change occur. Conduct a review of literature to see what is currently known about the topic and to find research support for the practice change you are recommending. You may use a topic from the list at the link below or may investigate a topic of your choice as long as it pertains to NP practice. If you are unsure of your topic, please reach out to your instructor. Be sure to provide speaker's notes for all slides except the title and reference slides. Definitions of the quality of medical care are no longer left to clinicians who decide for themselves what technical performance constitutes "good care." What are the other dimensions of quality care and why are they important? What has changed since the days when "doctor knows best?"Quality in medical care may be defined as achieving the greatest benefit at the lowest risk. How have the priorities of our health care system and the allocation of resources addressed this goal?Contrast the definitions of implicit and explicit criteria in assessing health care quality. How is each type of criterion useful in quality assessment? Each response should be 500-1000 wordsAPA formatting requiredAlthough each response is a separate essay of 500-1000 words, all responses should be combined into a single document for submission.

HLTH 4530 Walden University Medicare and Healthcare Economics Discussion
HLTH 4530: Healthcare Economics From a Population Health PerspectiveValue based purchasing is a payment model that offers financial incentives to healthcare providers and organizations when they meet certain performance measures. This model also penalizes healthcare providers for poor outcomes, medical errors, or increased costs. Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), and Bundled Payment Care Improvement (BPCI Advanced) are prospective value-based purchasing programs aimed at improving healthcare quality and reducing costs. Hospitals and physicians participate in these programs with the goal of getting the right care to the right patient at the right time.In this Discussion, you will consider what happens with these systems as they relate to nursing home care. Nursing home administrators are facing a reduction in the demand for skilled nursing rehabilitation (SNF) beds, while physicians in an ACO or a gain-sharer in a BPCI program are looking at discharging patients with home care or outpatient resources to reduce cost. All these programs are affected by re-admission penalties. Most businesses are constantly looking to reduce cost. In healthcare, often the necessity to reduce cost means a reduction in utilization. Consider how this compares to a retail market where reduced demand reduces cost by consumer choice. How much influence does the consumer have on the change in healthcare economics? Is it the payer (Medicare), the provider (the physician), or the patient?Consider the following scenarios:Scenario 1: You are a rehabilitation director in a nursing home. Your administrator has given you the directive that, to participate with a Medicare MCO and become a preferred provider for a hospital BPCI or comprehensive care for joint replacement (CJR) program, you need to reduce the length of stay for the short-term rehab patients from 20 days to 10 days for DRG 470: Total knee replacement. To compound the problem, you see that the usual 400 total knee patients you get annually has been reduced to 160 patients.Scenario 2: You are the manager of a large orthopedic practice who participates in the BPCI program. Your practice does 400 total knee patients each year. Medicare has set pricing for a Total Knee Replacement patient at $28,415 per patient for a 90-day episode of care. Current practice is that all patients automatically go to a skilled nursing facility (SNF) for 20 days. Based on current research the goal is for 60% of your patients to go home with home care and those going to a SNF to stay for 10 days so the BPCI program will be profitable.Select one of the two scenarios to focus on for this Discussion.Reflect on the scenario, and consider redesign measures you might recommend. For example, consider length of stay, reducing readmissions, attracting new business, care redesign, patient satisfaction, and physician engagement.Post a comprehensive response to the following:Describe at least three care redesign strategies you might recommend to the scenario.Justify why you selected these three care redesign strategies and explain how you would implement the redesign strategies you recommended.Be specific, and provide examples.Be sure to support your Discussion with a references within the last three years.350 words minimum

Definitions of the quality of medical care, health and medicine homework help
