Astronomers can spend entire careers studying specific types of stars. If you could choose one kind of star which to focus, what would you choose, and why? Do you consider your chosen area interesting? Important?
I would like to study white dwarfs because
1. Instead of nuclear fusion they have electron degeneracy pressure as the main mechanism
2. They do not explode like neutron stars or superovas
3. all medium sized stars eventually end up as white dwarfs
They are interesting and important because have such long lives that by studying them the origin of the universe and the actual age of the universe will become clearer.
