Project Choices: 1. Write your own origin myth (no more than 3 typed Times 12 double spaced pages). It should include lots of archetypes and cultural characteristics. 2. Prepare a comic strip illustrating your own origin myth. Include brief captions for each cell. USE COLOR. Make sure to include archetypes/cultural characteristics in the comic strip. This can be done by characters speaking and/or a little analysis below a cell. You can include several archetypes/cultural characteristics in 1 cell. 3. Prepare and present a puppet show or skit acting out . Make sure to include archetypes/cultural characteristics in the show. This can be done by characters and/or the narrator. 4. Write and perform your own origin song. Hand in lyrics. Should not exceed 5 minutes. 5. Go to your local library and check out an origin myth. Read it to the class. Verbally explain all archetypes/cultural characteristics in the story. Optional: Student can copy & distribute handouts for class to fill in. Requirements: a. Choices 1-5: Complete the attached Archetype Chart and the Cultural Characteristic Chart. Most of your grade is based on the work you complete on the charts. b. Choice 3: You should use some props to enhance your performance. You do not have to hand in a script because you are performing the myth. Please hand in Archetype and Cultural Characteristics Charts before your performance, so I can look for the required elements during your performance. c. Choices 3 & 4: You may videotape your performance and play it for the class rather than present the class to hear! d. Choice 5: You must hand in the library book for my review. I will return it to you promptly. Due Date: Note: Failure to hand in either chart will cause you to fail the project! Points will be deducted for errors in grammar and mechanics!
