Explanation & Answer
Divide Germany into zones of occupation (1948 to 1949).
This was the one of the earliest cold war conflict as the city of Berlin was totally surrounded by East Germany that was under the control of the Soviet Union forces. The city itself was divided into international zones that were later simplified into west and East Berlin. The city of Berlin was consequently cut off from land access by the Russian forces.
The allied forces led by the United States offered a solution of flying in provisions round the clock to West Berlin to keep the masses from starvation. This proved to be fruitful as rations were actually increased in West Berlin during the blockade.
