find the area of a circle circumscribed by a square measuring 10 meters on each side

Nov 10th, 2014

The side =10 meters

The diagonal = 10 * sqrt(2)

since side^2+side^2=diagonal^2

diagonal of square =diameter of circle = 10*sqrt(2)

radius =10*sqrt(2)/2 =5*sqrt(2)

Area of the circle = pi * 5^2*sqrt(2)^2 = pi *25*2 =50 pi

Area = 50 *pi = 50*3.14 = 157 square meters.

Answer : 50 pi sq meters = 157 sq meters
