find the area of a hexagon inscribed in a circle of diameter 16 inches

Solve for the base and height of that half triangle based on the information:
Base = Radius sin 30 = 16 sin 30= 8

Height = Radius cos 30 = 16 cos 30 = 13.86

Solve for area of the half triangle:
A= 1/2BH = (1/2)(8)(13.86) = 55.43

Solve for area of the whole triangle knowing the half triangle:
Area of whole = 2(A) = 2(55.43) = 110.85

Multiply that by total number of triangles in the hexagon:
Area of hexagon= 6(Area of whole) = 6(110.85) = 665.11
