find the area of a hexagon that circumscribes a circle of diameter 10 feet

Solve for the base and height of that half triangle based on the information:
Base = Radius sin 30 = 10 sin 30= 5

Height = Radius cos 30 = 10 cos 30 = 8.66

Solve for area of the half triangle:
A= 1/2BH = (1/2)(5)(8.66) = 21.65

Solve for area of the whole triangle knowing the half triangle:
Area of whole = 2(A) = 2(21.65) = 43.30

Multiply that by total number of triangles in the hexagon:
Area of hexagon= 6(Area of whole) = 6(43.30) = 259.81
