Suppose a stock had an initial price of $61 per share, paid a dividend of $1.40 per share during the year, and had an ending share price of $69. what is the percentage return? Dividend yield? Capital gains yield?

Nov 10th, 2014

If we do simplistic calculation

Capital appreciation = 69-61 =8

Dividend =1.4

Total Gains = 9.4

Percentage return= 9.4/61*100= 15.41&

Dividend yield = 1.4/61*100 =2.30%

Capital Gains yield = 8/61*100 =13.11%
