Practical basis
• I oppose the merger because:
• The merger will continue in the production of toxic.
• There will be a bigger merger of two companies that looks at
increasing crop yields using cancerous chemicals without regard to
human health (Galambos et al., 2007).
• It crashes the small-scale farmers by forcing them to purchase farm
products from the newly merged company.
• The environment will be affected through the use of agrochemicals
(Jayaraman et al., 2020).
• The merger will also be a threat to our climate due to the increase of
industrial agriculture which heavily relies on fossil fuel.
Legal basis
• On a legal basis, the merger is illegal under the antitrust laws in the

European Union and the united states.
Antitrust laws protect customers from predatory corporate practices.
In a free-market economy, there should be fair competition but the BayerMonsanto merger goes against these rules (Treviño & Nelson, 2021).
The enforcers in the US and the EU strive to avoid mergers which would
potentially undermine consumers by dramatically enhancing firms' market
power, and taking advantage of competition.
Antitrust laws deal with a variety of dubious business practices, not limited
to bid-rigging, market distribution, pricing, and monopolies.
Under EU competition regulations, the proposed merger between Bayer
and Monsanto must be stopped, as it restricts competition: it concentrates
an already very tightly bundled agriculture sector even more.
