Maple Grove is an upper-middle-class community with a population of 45,000 people. Highway 94, an interstate goes through the city. The hospital was established in 1989 as part of a large public hospital system. The hospital operates on a profit basis. Since its establishment, the hospital has grown to serve people from a radius of 25 miles away from the location. Smith community hospital is well established in the community and has a bed population of 400 beds. It provides inpatient services and has an outpatient surgery center in the same location. Inpatient specialization offered in the hospital includes orthopedic services, cardiac care, and surgery. Radiology services are also available at the hospital as outpatient services. The hospital is part of a larger hospital system in the community. The hospital serves the public within that particular community. The mission of the hospital is to provide quality healthcare to the local community in a professional way and a safe and comfortable environment. Its vision is to maintain a cutting age, continue with its innovativeness, and embrace the use of latest technology in the health sector. To provide medical services using the best technology in a cost effective manner. This hospital has a distinct structure consisting of the board of directors who are at the top of management; their mandate is to be the sole custodian of the charter of the hospital. The executive and senior staff forms next in the hierarchy they comprise of the chief executive officer, the chief finance officer, the chief operations officer, and the chief information officer. The secondary services comprise of all the general surgery services. And the tertiary services are the essential services that, the hospital offers. The departments at the hospital mentioned above have various roles in the management of the hospital. The compliance department headed by the chief compliance officer has the function of ensuring that the hospital follows the guidelines for all the activities related to insurance, accreditation, patient information, state, and federal legislation among another process. Another department is the technology department; this segment of the organization ensures that the hospital keeps up with its technology requirements and operations. Leadership is the overall controller of all activities in the hospital. Despite its firm establishment, the hospital requires various improvements mechanism in the following areas; the administration needs to adopt a technology that is cost effective to the hospital while still delivering the best healthcare. The operations department requires a structural transformation to match the growing economic hard times in the community. The compliance department needs to adopt modern filling systems using computers or online systems to avoid Executive Summary and Analysis losing its files. The information technology department should consider replacing its old IT hardware with new ones. 4
