Description
1. Identify two books appropriate for high school math students with good reasons.
2. Create unique plans for each book to assess students' literacy focusing on each dimension of literacy - oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
3. Make sure that your plans connect to the books that your students will read by including specific vocabulary from the book in word based assessments and include specific comprehension strategies when assessing comprehension. Make sure to plan for assessing phonological awareness, phonics, and fluency even at the secondary level.
4. Cite at least 3 credible sources you found through your research on literacy assessment to create your plans.

The writer; Levin, O. (2019), Discrete mathematics
I choose discrete mathematics because it's more literature-based. Many children understand
better through stories, which was the primary reason why I decided to use it.
How will you assess oral language using a specific strategy?
The strategy I will use to assess oral language among students is by asking the students to
answer particular questions related to the area learned in the daily lesson. I will let each student
solve the calculations individually without confirming from their books. Afterward, I will group
the students into small discussion groups to discuss the same questions without checking their
notes (Brozo & Crain, 2018). Students will be indifferent discussion groups every day. I will
repeat the process after every lesson and encourage students to participate in the group
discussions.
How will you assess phonological awareness using a specific strategy?
I will take the students through rhyming words relating to every topic when introducing a
new topic to assess their phonological awareness. I will proceed and explain how each word will
be used throughout the topic. In the everyday study area, I will come up with a word then the
students will write down other rhyming words that they can find.
How will you assess phonics using a specific strategy?
