1. Please define:
1. Per capita- this means for each individual in a population of people.
2. Garbage- Household waste produced in a weekly basis
3. Trash-Yard refuse like grass cuttings, leaves produced in a weekly basis
4. Yard Trimmings-these are wastes produced through trimming of garden and
compound plants like hedges, compound trees, and outgrown grass.
5. e-waste- these are electric and electronic devices whose usefulness is almost
finished. These devices can also be reused, recycled or salvaged.
6. tipping- this is the process of dumping of waste into a dumpsite of a landfill
7. Recycle- collection of inorganic waste and subject them again in a
manufacturing process to produce other goods.
8. Reduce-this involve reducing the amount of materials manufactured in order to
reduce the amount of raw materials used which give rise to wastes.
9. Reuse- this involves creating a secondary use for a material after it has served
its primary use.
10. Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) - This is a US law that
regulates waste disposal.
11. Hoist trucks- these are trucks that are used to lift waste from the packer trucks
and dispose them to the landfills.
