Do we have a moral duty to take animals' interests into account when we decide how to act towards them?
How, and to what extent, should debates about the moral status of animals influence Andy Stewart's choice?
Yes, we have a moral duty, for three reasons
1. We make use of them to carry load, ride on them , guard or lead us, make money for us, etc. Hence any such animal we own must be well looked after.
2. All animals have an equal share on this planet - humans do not have a greater share just because they are mightier.
3. Since they are also created by God, they must be respected, and certainly not mistreated or deliberately made to suffer pain.
