There are numerous competencies that a project manager is required to have to carry out
all duties related to the post effectively. However, the fact is that different project managers have
their areas strength and weakness. It is therefore, critical for these managers to identify their
strengths and weaknesses to capitalize on them and devise strategies to address them,
respectively. In this case, I have numerous general competencies that are my strengths and a few
that are my weaknesses. Over the years, I have realized that decision-making is one of my
strongholds as a project manager. The reason why this competency is my area of strength is
because I discovered that decision-making ability is the most valuable aspect of project
management. In all the projects I have managed, I have analyzed different factors accurately and
made actionable and accurate decisions. This quality has branded me as the best project manager,
in respect to effective decision-making in my firm.
Flexibility is clinical in project management, and it is one of my strengths as a project
manager. In all projects that I have managed I have realized that not everything goes according
to the stipulated plans. Therefore, I have come to gain critical awareness that enables me to
monitor different factors and gather new information in a way that I can effect change in a way
that enables my team to meet the milestones in time, and with minimal budget adjustment. I have
always planned ahead for changes, and this has worked perfectly. Leadership is another
competency I value and have worked hard to strengthen. The reason why the projects I have
managed have been successful is due to my ability to influence and motivate my team. Also,
situational leadership has proved critical since it has enabled me to deal with different situations
differently to achieve diverse objectives critical to the project. I have ensured that effective
