This paper discusses the main Hammurabi’s code of law that was used by Hammurabi in
the 1792 and 1846. It explains some common laws and their penalties to the offenders.
The code of Hammurabi was code of law in Babylon in the ancient days. It’s one of the
world oldest and long writings and was enacted by the Hammurabi the sixth Babylonian king. It
has about 282 laws that contained the scaled punishments that were based on the principle of
doing to the offender what he or she did to the victim. The code is dominated by the contract
laws. This code was discovered in 1901 by a Jean Vincent since it was carved on a long stone. It
is in Akkadian language and is displayed in the University of Chicago. This code was used in the
