Example, Human Resources Department storing employee information. If you wanted to store their pay rate along with their name you could use a parallel array. The first array being sorted by name, the second array with each employees pay rate, the third array with their length of employment and so forth. Using these arrays it keeps things organized and easy to access. Furthermore, you could use software to give employees pay raises based upon their length of employment.
