It really depends on the area. At first glance you would say "yes". But in areas like Brazil (tropical rain forests) , you are terrible results when clear cutting. What do trees hold in? they hold the soil together. If you clear cut these areas, then rain washes away the soil. Leaving the ground barren of soil and unable to regrow forests. This is a really big problem, outside of areas of the United States. In the US, clear cutting is restricted. Ensuring that the soil does not become barren.
