(born May 14, 1942). In 1968, Todaro received a PhD in economics from Yale University for a
study entitled "The Urban Employment Problem in Less Developed Countries – An Analysis of
Demand and Supply." Subsequently,
Stephen Smith Charles is an economist, writer, and instructor (born1955). He is Head of the
Economics department at George Washington University, and a Professor of Economics and
Foreign Affairs. He is also a Research Associate with the IZA (Institute for the Study Labor).
