Now using quadratic formula then

x = (- b ± √b^2 - 4ac)/2a

Now

x = (- (-11) ± √(-11)^2 - 4(2)(-1)) / 2(2)

x = ( 11 ± √121 + 8) / 4

x = ( 11 ± √129) / 4

Hence the roots are  x = { (11 + √129)/4 , (11 - √129)/4 }
