Scenario: You work in the accounting department at your U.S. based company. The Vice President enters your office and asks you for a check for $250.00 for expenses he tells you he incurred taking a client to a late dinner the night before. He provides you with receipts for a dinner for two at one of the most expensive restaurants in the city. A few minutes later, you head over to the employee lounge and pass by his receptionist who is telling someone else how the VP proposed to his girlfriend the night before at that same restaurant. You decide you need to alert the CEO to the situation. Instructions: • Write a Corporate Memo in Microsoft Word (minimum two pages) to the CEO that describes your ethical and legal concerns in the given business situation. • Address the following: 1. Memorandum
To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
From: The Accounting Department Head
Date: February 26, 2021.
RE: Accounting Ethical Concerns about the Company Vice-president.
Hello CEO! I am writing this memo to inform you of urgent ethical concerns with the company
vice-president and the accounting department. The ethical concerns need your immediate attention
as the company boss. The vice president (VP) came to my office to demand a check of $250.00 he
spent taking a client to late-night business dinner. He handed me receipts from one of the expensive
restaurants in the city. It came to my attention the client being referred to by the Vice President
was his girlfriend, and he had taken her to a proposal dinner. This is not fair to the company under
my watch, and the situation needs to be resolved before the company loses resources to personal
use and not company endeavors. The situation raises four major ethical concerns to me. Let me
take you through them in this memo as follows for your reaction and action.
