Would the following solutions qualify as a buffer? Why or why not? Please explain
0.050 M HBr & 0.050 NaBr
0.100 M NH4Cl & 0.200 M NH3
The first one is not. HBr is strong acid, NaBr is neutral salt. So the combination could not become a buffer.
The second pair could work as a buffer since NH4Cl is weak acid and NH3 is its conjugate base.
