How Empirical Analysis can be used.
An empirical analysis is an approach that is based on evidence. It relies on real-world
data which happened and has evidence instead of concepts and theories. Brexit is a political issue
where the United Kingdom withdrew from the European Atomic Energy Union and the
European Union. The empirical analysis can be used in understanding the reasons why Brexit
happened basing on evident practices. The main reason that led to Brexit was the people of the
United Kingdom wanted their decisions to be made in the United Kingdom, and leaving the
European Union will offer them a chance to regain control over immigration in their country and
its borders (Clarke, 2017). Secondly, it is evident that the European Union was seriously
misallocating resources. For instance, forty percent of their budget was directed to farmers and
mostly to the wealthiest farmers when agriculture only accounted for one percent of the GDP
across the union. Their agricultural policy only results in overproduction which results in the
surplus being dumped in markets overseas. It is evident as surplus tinned tomatoes are dumped in
Africa, specifically in Ghana.
Thirdly, there is massive corruption in the European Union. It is evident that the
European Union's accounts have not been approved for the past several years. The chief auditor
of the union has not approved an expenditure of approximately a hundred billion euros. Basing
on the fact that politicians do not govern the union, the unelected bureaucrats and judges pose a
