Binomial distribution arises, when we perform an experiment number of times.

Each conduct is called a trial.

A trial results in success or failure.

The probability of getting a success remains constant irrespective of the trial(p).

Trials are independent.

Then the probability of getting r successes in n trials is _{n}C_{r} p^{r}(1-p)^{n-r}

Probability of getting 3 heads in 5 tosses = _{5}C_{3} (1/2)^{3} (1/2)^{2} = _{5}C_{3} (1/2)^{5} =10* 1/32 =5/16
