Introduction
Leadership describes the process of accomplishing a goal or goals through directing people and
managing resources effectively (Pava, 2015). The leadership process involves five major
elements: communication, knowing your people as a leader, knowing yourself, seeking feedback,
and democracy. Every leadership starts with communication, and every good communication
should be transparent and recipient customized. As a leader, understanding your people means
understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each party or individual involved, what makes
them tick, and what motivates them. Knowing yourself as a leader or self-awareness enhances
your leadership skills to motivate and inspire your subordinates. Democracy eliminates
dictatorship, allowing the people to make their own decision but directing them in an organized
manner. Democracy involves listening to the people's needs and suggesting the democratic
process in project implementation. Seeking feedback entails regular feedback from your team
and colleagues, which helps one understand their strengths and weaknesses and use them to their
advantage. When you grow as a leader, your team generally grows too. Transformational
leadership seeks to encourage, motivate, and inspire subordinates to innovate and create change,
developing and shaping the organization's future. Transformational leaders achieve this by
inspiring and motivating their employees through micromanaging.
