let the number be x,
twice the number means 2x,
3 is added so 2x+3
is equal to negative of the number means 2x+3 =-x
so we need to solve,

2x+3=-x
or, 2x+x = -3
or, 3x =-3
therefore, x=-3/3 = -1 (answer)

Please best all the answer which are helpful to you. Thanks :)
