Compensation often impacts an employee’s motivation, productivity and job satisfaction though
there are a couple of other factors. Ideally, employees feel motivated when their employer shares
the profits of the company with them and workers will put the best effort to ensure the success of
their company if this is the case. In other cases, compensation is directly related to employee
performance, for example for the sales persons. In this case, such employees will fell motivated to
perform well so as to receive higher compensation and bonuses for their sales and consequently,
their productivity in their job. According to the expectancy theory of motivation, people believe
there is a relationship between effort, performance, and outcome and the outcome emphasized in
