The past decades have seen a tremendous advancement of information systems to
virtually being present everywhere. The interactions with information systems can happen using
various components via different devices such as personal computers, laptops, and smartphones.
These electronic devices connect individuals to different systems, including online shopping,
banking, texting, and accessing academic materials. Thus, information systems are central to the
operations of every organization, offering users unlimited resources. Information systems (IS)
comprise interrelated elements, which gather, process, distribute, and store information to
facilitate control and decision-making in a company. These elements include Software,
hardware, data, people, and processes that interact to manipulate data for different functions. The
paper focuses on information systems and their role in decision-making.
The relationship between decision-making and information systems is a major concern in
the information system (IS) field. Information systems have a major role in helping managers
provide good decisions by offering accurate and time-based information in an unsettled
environment (Aina et al., 2016). Hence, for an organization to succeed in this era, it should
depend on information systems to enhance work and accomplish the set goals and benefits. As
such, a management information system forms one of these systems that help resolve structured
and unstructured problem settings (Aina et al., 2016). Managers require information to clarify the
problem, make decisions, and act in various functions of management. Thus, such tasks can be
difficult to undertake in the absence of a well-defined system. This report focuses on decision
