During the pretrial period, the activities include gathering evidence documents, exchanging evidence that will be used in trial with the opposing party. In addition, pretrial may include settlement negotiations and scheduling of the settlement meeting with the presiding judge. Arrangement for any depositions and completion of the depositions precedes a trial. It is also necessary to exchange witness list and to arrange for a translator if required.
