ARGUMENT ON WHETHER STUDYING ENGLISH FROM A YOUNG AGE IS
IMPORTANT OR WORTH
SURNAME 2
Language and speech have been one of the widely studied concepts, and it is, therefore,
interesting to note that there seems to be no consensus on what is the role of language and the
influence it has on an individual; both socially and cognitively. English has been one of the
most widely used languages and therefore; it leaves one wondering what are the benefits of
studying English from a young age? The simple implication is that English is worth being
studied by the young ones due to its standing in the international world and the benefits and
opportunities that it presents to the young ones in their future lives.
One of the argumentative fact on the use of English is that it has a wide historical background
and is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. One of the main aspects of
human beings is that they are social beings. Cognitively, human beings have developed on
the symbolic interests of language. The symbolic interactionism of language is that language
is used as a form of expression and the human beings have created a consensus on what each
word in language represents and how it is interpreted. The socialization is therefore based on
such symbolic importance of language. This explanation is not exclusive to the English
language, but this is where the revelation of the language as being of worth to the young ones
comes into play. The language is widely used in socialization by most human beings, and the
children can take part with fellow human beings due to their understanding of the use of the
language. The simple allusion is that English would help the children to have the ability to
take part in conversations, create ideas, speak their minds and interact with a wide range of
people due to the grasp of the English language (Sussex & Roland, pp. 120-124).
