with mean of 100 and standard deviation of 18. Researcher modifies test and gives test to 36 kids. Average test score is 104
A. Null hypothesis?

B. Standard error?

C. Calculate z

D. Reject or accept null hypothesis?

E. What does your conclusion mean?

Null hypohesis H0: mu =100

SD =18

n=36

Standard error =18/sqrt(36) =18/6=3

z= (xbar-mu)/standard error = (104-100)/3 =4/3= 1.33

Since |z| < 1.96 (5% value), we do not reject the null hypothesis

The test scores follow a normal distribution with mean 100
