What is being done to address this problem?
Video game addiction is a psychiatric impulse disorder, similar to gambling addiction. In
both cases, the individual becomes increasingly dependent on the source over time, becoming
irritable and despondent when they do not receive it. Addicts who are addicted to video
games can also suffer withdrawal symptoms. Addiction to video games is dealt with in the
same way as other addictions. Treatment for video game addiction is still being researched,
although there have been few clinical trials on the topic. Experts believe that the same
therapies that work with other addictions tend to work for video game players as well.
Consequently, they also prescribe counseling and psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral
therapy, 12-step programs, and medication, either alone or in conjunction with other

Is there a consensus about how to improve this problem, or is there a great deal of

When the World Health Organization (WHO) agreed, in mid-2018, to include “gaming
disorder” in the 11th edition of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11), it did
not end the long-running controversy about whether electronic gaming may be addictive
enough to be deemed pathologic (Haelle, 2019).
The topic of video gaming truly being an approved clinal and scientifically based
addiction is a topic of controversy (Wittek, et. al. 2016). The clinical definition of “addiction”
says that a patient’s addiction to something is triggered by an underlying psychological issue.
This issue leads to the patient using a substance as a reward for them. This reward system
