Obesity in America is considered an epidemic. There are many contributing factors to obesity (both childhood and adult), such as biological, environmental, social, or economic factors. You may also use the Internet to research obesity and its causes.

Obesity is a medical condition caused by excess fat in the body. It is diagnosed using the
BMI (Body Mass Index). A high percentile on the index shows that the person is obese.
Screening is a better option though. The rate of obesity, especially among children has drastically
increased over the last few years in my community. This has increased the number of sick
children as it comes with complications such as diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea,
anemia, some cancers, liver problems and premature myocardial infarctions and angina pectoris.
